Greek-Sudanese musician Marina Satti puts her flavor on a traditional Greek song for her atmospheric music video, “Yiati Pouli M.” The lyrics are taken from a song-poem about a bird that can no longer sing because its wings have been clipped. This allegory was inspired by the fall of Constantinople and describes the state of being unable to live and create due to losing one’s roots. It was directed by my friend Alexis Gómez, to whom I owe the pleasure of being part of such special projects as this one.
